Sharon Gilshenan has full prescribing privileges. With over thirty years of nursing experience most of spent in senior positions within the NHS, she has been specialising in aesthetics for ten years and continues to be very passionate about providing an exemplary high standard of care.
She has been extensively trained in aesthetic medicine and has undergone continuous professional education in many areas, including: dissection, anatomy, injection techniques, examination, skin conditions, complications, adverse events and prescribing. Sharon has an advanced level of understanding of the treatments required to benefit the patient and practices holistically, looking beyond an individual wrinkle: spending time with her patients and she places great importance on listening hard, giving detailed consultations and clear explanations of any suitable treatment and follow up appointments.
As one of the first nurses in the country to obtain the qualification to prescribe, Sharon continues to be involved in teaching and is a mentor to nurses who wish to obtain this qualification. Sharon also continues to works as a national trainer teaching aesthetics to medical professionals across the UK for a Pharma Company where she continues to receive high praise for her level of knowledge and teaching skills.
As an Ambassador and fundraiser for Facing the World she visits schools to educate on facial disfigurement. She says “Having had reconstructive surgery, I know how difficult it is to lose your confidence and the utter pleasure I get of helping someone else regain theirs is always with me.”
Her patients say she has a warm, friendly manner that’s blended with a sharp sense of humour. Yet she remains consistently professional, knowledgeable and caring in her approach that makes them feel secure and confident.
